Most of the time,
I can’t say the right thing.
Words stumble more
than feet over coarse stones.
I probably think too fast
and speak too slow.
Trying to play catch-up
is not simple.
Or maybe I think too much
and talk less than I should.
Thinking has become the norm
where talking is the alternate
that I’d rather not choose.
Maybe it’s my own thoughts
that cause me to stumble
where there aren’t any
sudden shifts in ground level.
Maybe I should listen less
to my own thoughts
and more to what you, Lord,
are telling me.
